High Planning Swordsman
Swordsman is a variety of freshwater placental fish that belong to the family of Peciliae. The place of origin of the swordsmen is considered to be Central America, Southern Mexico and Guatemala. These fish live in boiling waters, lakes, swamps, as well as in bodies of water with stagnant water and in places overgrown with algae. The natural color of the swordsmen is green. However, as a result of selection, fish of red, black, white, lemon and spotted colors formed.
The High-Sword Swordsmen are a selective form of the green Swordsman. The maximum size of these fish is 8-10 cm. The high-fin swordsmen are able to get along with fish of the same size and with the same temperament.
The high-fin sword-bearer, as well as other types of sword-bearers, are not demanding on feed, therefore they cause no difficulties. However, it should be remembered that the food must be alternated so that there is variety (live, dry, plant).
It is customary to distinguish three main varieties of food for swordsmen in need of alternation:
Dry food (chips, cereal);
Plant food (lettuce, seaweed, spinach);
Live food (bloodworms, cyclops, artemia, mosquito larva).
You should not overfeed the fish, or immediately give a lot of food. Fish may not eat anything and the water will quickly become contaminated.
In addition to the above feed, you can distinguish non-standard food preferred by high-fin swordfish:
Boiled egg yolk;
Dried bread (crackers).
Do not forget that products such as meat, fish, bread, as well as all ingredients related to vegetable feed must be doused with boiling water and finely chopped before serving.
On the day of birth, do not feed the fry. On the second day, you can give a grated boiled egg yolk, or well-ground daphnia. You can also squeeze artemia. This cancer is highly nutritious for fry, which will affect their rapid development of growth. Already in the second week you can begin to feed the fry with bloodworms and cyclops.
Initially, the fry are able to degenerate both into male and female fish. This phenomenon depends on the temperature of the water in the vessel. If the water temperature is about 30 ° C, there will be many males, and if the temperature is about 20 ° C, there will be females.
Maintenance and care
To maintain the high-fin swordsmen, it is necessary to choose a rectangular aquarium of 30-50 liters so that they can move freely. It must be ensured that the water is clean 20-30 ° C. To prevent fish from jumping out of the aquarium, it is better to cover it with glass, while leaving a small distance between the vessel and the lid for oxygen to enter. High-swordsman swordsmen love light, so a table lamp should be placed near the aquarium.
Due to the fact that the swordsmen are peaceful and harmless fish, they can get along with other types of fish with the same temperament.
If you adhere to the recommendations, the breeding of high-fin swordsmen will bring a lot of pleasure. Males differ from females in a brighter color and the presence of a sword.
Swordfish reach puberty in 6-8 months. No more than two males should be in the aquarium so that they do not fight. Pregnancy in swordsmen of the female sex is manifested by an increase in the abdomen. As a rule, pregnancy lasts for 30-35 days (up to 5 weeks). 2-3 days before the date of delivery, the female is sent to a separate aquarium or jar. It is advisable to place algae in the vessel where the female was planted so that the fry can find shelter. At one time the female can give birth to about 50 fry. After the fry are born, drop the female into the aquarium with all the fish. The fry should be in a separate vessel until they become larger.
Interesting fact! Fertilization of a female can go before her puberty. The male sperm will be located in the female until fertilization occurs. Also, the female is able to give birth several times, even with single fertilization.
